Lumikko Oy
Lumikko Oy is a privately owned enterprise in Seinäjoki founded in the 1970-s. The main fields of activity of the company include: manufacturing of temperature control units for food transportation equipment, air conditioning equipment for public service vehicles, cooling devices for equipment and crew rooms in defence industry as well as refrigeration solutions for the industry.
Temperature regulating devices have been manufactured under Lumikko brand already from the year 1970. Our services cover the maintenance and spare part service in our three companies in Seinäjoki, Tampere and Helsinki as well as in 27 contract maintenance servicing points all over Finland for the equipment manufactured by us.
Starting from the 1990s, Lumikko products have been exported to the Nordic countries as well as to most EU countries. Our contract servicing points are located in the territory of EU.
The story of Lumikko
Like many other Finnish international companies, also the story of Lumikko has started from a garage. The vision of the Saikkonen brothers was to design temperature regulating devices applicable in Nordic conditions and to offer the clients a local and competent support service.
When the brothers were manufacturing their products, a weasel (lumikko in Finnish) happened once to visit the garage. The weasel had a swift look at the work, turned its head and off it was. So the brothers found a name for the company that is now already over 40 years old. The weasel’s visit in the garage was surely an omen of internationalisation, as the weasel is spread all over Europe except Ireland and Island. So at least Lumikko temperature regulation equipment patches this hole in Europe.
