| Freezone is the brand of Lumikko’s new environmentally friendly temperature control unit series, developed with environmental issues in mind. The series’ products have a minimal environmental load through their entire life span. |
GREEN PRESPECTIVE
We have aimed at minimum energy and fuel consumption in Freezone range units, by using the latest diesel engines, which comply with emission standards. Furthermore, by lowering the engine’s rotation speed by up to 30% compared to previous models, we have minimised the engine’s fuel consumption. In addition, the start/stop function of the revamped Lumikko Control II control system has been optimised to reduce the operating hours of the diesel engine.
The new EC ventilation technique used in the units consumes up to 15% less electricity than traditional electrical fans, thus significantly reducing the noise level of the unit, since the fans rotate at the lowest rotation speed needed.

NOISE
The old idea of more power meaning more noise no longer holds true. The temperature control units of trucks and trailers cause a significant noise problem, particularly when products are delivered during the night in residential areas.
In our new products, we have focused on reducing the noise level, and thanks to the reduction of the rotation speed, the noise created by the unit’s diesel engine has decreased notably. In addition, the ventilation technique used in the units has been explicitly selected to optimise the efficiency/noise ratio of the ventilation.
FUTURE
Our new Freezone products are merely the first step towards a better future, in which we will invest heavily in the implementation of natural refrigerants. Our product development is also investigating the use and utilisation possibilities of alternative sources of power, such as fuel cell technology and charging systems.

When developing our Freezone range, we have focused on the concept of beautiful and pure simplicity, without forgetting user-friendliness, serviceability and reliability, together with minimised environmental load. |
- The extended service intervals of the new Lumikko 90DS and 400GS units, as well as the placement of serviceable components within easy reach, add to the unit’s operating life.
- For example, the 400GS is implemented with a diesel generator package which leaves the water pump belt as the only component requiring regular maintenance in addition to oil and filter replacement.
